The 2010 season was difficult but excellent at the same time. For the first time, Miguel drove a touring car, a kind of machine so different to those he was used to. But Miguel adapted to the new formula very quickly and in his very first race he got his first championship point.
Afterwards, a fourth place in Brands Hatch and two fifth places in Holland’s Zandvoort and Shanghai plus remarkable performances in other tracks completed a great season as he was presented with the Rookie of the Year Award, ahead of multiple F1 race winner David Coulthard. This made Audi and the ABT squad trust him again with a seat for 2011.
Last year was a tough one for Miguel, especially at the beginning. Driving for the Red Bull team, it took some time until he got good results despite showing strong pace during the practice and qulifying sessions. Finally, at Oschersleben he got his first pole position of the year, one thousandth of a second faster than Mercedes Bruno Spengler. Then at the end of the race, he got his first point by finishing eighth. At the following race in Valencia, he finished fifth.
And at the season finale Miguel was on pole again after an extraordinary qualifying lap and during the race, his constant pace earned him the third position, his first podium at the DTM. He finished the season with 11 points and two pole positions.
