  • Miguel Molina got his first DTM podium after finishing third in the last race of 2011. This result brilliantly closed his second year in the championship as he and his team long pursued this result.

Miguel started from pole but couldn’t avoid spinning his tyres so he lost two positions to Jamie Green and current champion and teammate Martin Tomczyk. He was right after them from the start and kept a very good pace as he waited for a possible mistake from them.

Miguel’s engineer, Markus Michelberger, decided to change the race tactics making Miguel to stay longer than expected on track in the first stint but when it became clear that the leading trio had a very similar race pace, Miguel opted to stay calm and secure the podium.

After an hour, the chequered flag saluted Miguel’s best result since he started in the DTM. This way, the Catalan driver closes a year that ended brilliantly, as Molina got two Pole Positions and a podium in the last three races.

    Miguel Molina:

I’m very happy and satisfied with this podium but I can’t help remembering that my wheels span at the start. After keeping third position, I tried different tactics but Martin and I had the same pace so I focused on securing third. I want to dedicate this result to Audi, to my team and to those who have supported me throughout this season, which has been hard at times, but that ended much better than I expected.
